At Safeswiss data privacy is part of our DNA. We only store the absolute necessary information for the shortest possible time. All technical measures are taken to prevent unauthorized access to any data that is stored on our servers. All SafeSwiss primary servers are located deep within secure facilities in Switzerland.
SafeSwiss Secure Communications AG has no information on your name, age, gender, ethnicity, etc. ensuring absolute privacy. At SafeSwiss we believe every person has the fundamental right of privacy.
1. Security of messages/calls
SafeSwiss Secure Communication AG have no possibility to decrypt messages of SafeSwiss users as private keys used to decrypt the encrypted messages do only reside on users' devices.
The encrypted messages and media files (images, videos, location share, voice message etc.) are immediately deleted on the servers as soon as they have been delivered successfully.
All encrypted phone conversations are initially routed to our servers, but the unique session key - given only for the duration of that call - do only reside on call participants' devices. As soon as call established and all call participants are directly reachable, all calls are then moved to peer to peer mode.
Meta information of messages (sender, recipient etc.) is protected by an additional second encryption layer for transmission to the server, and from the server to the recipient, to prevent eavesdropping by third parties (e.g. in open WiFi network).
2. Address book data
Email addresses and phone numbers from the user's address book (if the user has enabled synchronization) are only transmitted to the server in one-way encrypted ("hashed") format and additionally protected using SSL/TLS. The servers only keep these hashes in volatile memory for a short time to determine the list of matching IDs, and then delete the hashes immediately. At no point are the hashes or the results of the synchronization written to disk.
3. Linking of email addresses and phone numbers
It is left to the discretion of SafeSwiss users whether or not they want to link their SafeSwiss ID with an email address and/or phone number. SafeSwiss can be used without this link; in that case, any user cannot be found automatically by other SafeSwiss users via address book synchronization.
Email addresses and phone numbers that have been linked will only be stored for the purpose of synchronization and never supplied to third parties. SafeSwiss will never provide SafeSwiss IDs for any advertising purposes. Furthermore SafeSwiss users can delete their provided email address and/or phone number at any time.
4. Crash reports
If the user explicitly chooses to submit a crash report about the app, information about the crash (state of the app at the time of the crash, last log messages) will be sent to the SafeSwiss technical support team and stored there for further analysis.
5. Send location feature
6. General provisions
In general, the regulations of the Swiss Federal Act of on Data Protection (FADP) as well as the Ordinance to the Federal Act on Data Protection (OFADP) apply.
