THE POWER OF PRIVACY

At SafeSwiss®, data privacy is in our DNA. We believe every person has the fundamental right to privacy. To ensure this,  SafeSwiss® Secure Communications AG will not have, or pass on any personal information regarding your identity. We only store absolutely necessary information, for the shortest possible time.

SafeSwiss® takes all technical measures possible to prevent unauthorized access to any data stored on our servers. All SafeSwiss® primary servers are located deep within secure facilities in Zurich, Switzerland. Our servers are protected by sophisticated SafeSwiss® encryption software and by strict Swiss privacy laws.

1. Security of Messages/Calls

It is not possible for SafeSwiss® to decrypt messages of SafeSwiss® users; private keys used to decrypt the encrypted messages only reside on users' devices.

The encrypted messages and media files (e.g. images, videos, location share, voice messages) are immediately deleted on the servers as soon as they have been delivered successfully.

All encrypted phone conversations are initially routed to our servers, but the unique session key - given only for the duration of that call - only reside on call participants' devices. As soon as the call is established and all call participants are directly reachable, all calls are then moved to peer to peer mode.

To prevent eavesdropping by third parties (e.g. in open WiFi network), meta-information of messages (e.g. sender, recipient) is protected by an additional second encryption layer for transmission to the server, and from the server to the recipient.

2. Address Book Data

Email addresses and phone numbers from the user's address book (if the user has enabled synchronization) are only transmitted to the server in one-way encrypted (‘hashed’) format, and are also protected using SSL/TLS. The servers only keep these hashes in volatile memory for a short time to determine the list of matching IDs, then the hashes are immediately deleted. At no point are the hashes or the results of the synchronization written to disk.

3. Linking of Email Addresses & Phone Numbers

It is left to the discretion of SafeSwiss® users whether or not they want to link their SafeSwiss® ID with an email address and/or phone number. SafeSwiss® can be used without this link; in which case, the user cannot be found automatically by other SafeSwiss® users via address book synchronization.

Email addresses and phone numbers that have been linked will only be stored for the purpose of synchronization; they will never be supplied to third parties. We will never provide SafeSwiss® IDs for any advertising purposes and SafeSwiss® users can delete their provided email address and/or phone number at any time.

If the user explicitly chooses to submit an App Crash Report, information about the crash (e.g. state of the App at the time of the crash, last log messages) will be sent to the SafeSwiss® technical support team and stored there for further analysis.
